Our Organisation


The NAW is a self-help organisation run by the widowed, for the widowed.  We receive no government funding; all our funds are generated from membership subscriptions, donations, and fundraising activities at a local and national level.   The AGM is an opportunity for all members to influence the direction of our organisation.


NAW Council members are elected at the AGM for a three year period and comprises five members.   Council selects its own officers annually for the posts of Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary.   It handles day-to-day  administration, implements national policy, and plans for the future.  In addition, it may appoint sub-committees to undertake various administrative or policy roles. Council meets every two months and its agenda takes into account comments and suggestions from all members, particularly those made at the AGM and the regional meetings.
